Two synaesthesias, one object
For Hyakki Yagyō, the colour of each box sheath came from how the perfumer sees the finished scent — his synaesthesia.
The creature on it was coloured by the artist’s own synaesthesia. Two people reading the same scent, printed on the same box.
Kirin 麒麟

A mythical creature born of Chinese belief and revered in Japanese culture as a sign of good fortune and peace — often shown wreathed in flame or a radiant aura, the fusion of natural powers.

Kappa 河童
Event: Hyakki Yagyō (百鬼夜行) — The Parade of Scent-Veiled Demons · ขบวนอสูรซ่อนกลิ่น
A cunning, water-dwelling yōkai with a turtle’s shell who challenges people to sumo or pulls them beneath the river. Offer it a cucumber or a respectful bow, and it returns loyalty — even friendship.
